The global pandemic has compelled cities to reevaluate their entire urban ecosystems. Restoring public trust in services, providing more highly automated solutions, and rethinking transport’s financing models are among some of the tasks facing city authorities and mobility stakeholders to build a safer, more sustainable and more accessible urban mobility future.

A myriad of questions around transportation modes, energy use, land planning and smart infrastructure are arising at all stakeholder levels. At the same time, we are facing a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to re-imagine transport systems and advance towards a more resilient, equitable and seamless mobility experience. Changes such as improved and open data sharing, as well as closer collaboration between public and private mobility stakeholders will play a key role in reshaping and adapting urban mobility to the new normal.

In an increasingly virtual world, Season 4 of the FIA Smart Cities initiative has delivered a series of eForums throughout 2020. Focusing on specific regions — Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas — the eForums brought together global leaders and mobility experts to discuss how urban transport has been impacted, adapted and reshaped in times of a global pandemic.

The FIA Smart Cities Leaders eTalk, taking place on 18 November on the Smart City Live 2020 online platform, will gather FIA Smart Cities partners, including Formula E Holdings, ABB and Julius Baer, and the RACC Foundation to conclude the season. The Leaders eTalk will provide insights on how the power of innovation can be leveraged to promote efficient and reliable smart cities solutions for a post-pandemic world.
